Reading to Writing

S.K.H. Yautong Kei Hin Primary School teachers are exploring ways to manage the diversity in the regular classroom and including students with transient mild learning difficulties, with the aim of increasing the participation and learning of all students. This year, the P4 teachers of the school have been working together to explore some effective teaching practices that can support the learning of students with different abilities and needs. Various strategies like providing additional scaffolding were used in the task design and teaching process to improve the quality of teaching and learning. With the collaborative efforts of teachers, the reading and writing lessons have become more accessible to all students to enable them to achieve the intended learning objectives. The project has also stimulated discussions on how to support the less able students among teachers as a group, and this in turn, has helped the panel generate valuable knowledge and experiences in developing inclusive practices.
